JULY 22nd!
SAVANNAH, GEORGIA
The 10th
anniversary of the 1996 Olympic Yachting Games was an
outstanding success with the profits benefiting
The Savannah Sailing
Center which is a 501 (c) (3)
non-profit organization.
Over 110 Olympic volunteers attended the day long event
starting at the Wilmington Island Club (see photos), a
boating trip to the former site of "waterworld" and then
a reception at the former Olympic village - the Marriott
Savannah Riverfront.
At the lunch and reception young men from the Sailing
Center's programs volunteered to man a booth selling
Olympic era prints, shirts, hats and books and these
young men will be very successful in sales!
The contest of most complete uniform was amazing to see
what turned up -- never worn shoes to the rain poncho
and circle shirts everywhere! The evening ended
with the awarding of the silent auction items --
beautiful charts, HH foul weather gear, Laser sail and
boom vang, a Ray Ellis print and much more.
