Catch
the Wind Programs
 |
Begin this lifetime sport by learning
the basics of water safety and sailing skills with emphasis on having fun. Basic
sailing is taught in the safe and stable Optimist sailboat (see picture below)
for juniors and stable daysailers for Open Program.

Instruction
is offered at the Chatham County Recreation Department's Lake Mayer
Boathouse located off of Montgomery Crossroads in southside
Savannah.

|
Junior sailors build
self-reliance and self-confidence by learning the fundamentals of sailing a
small boat. Courses progress from basic sail handling and
trimming to performance racing. |

Cost:
Summer Camp Week:
$100
for 1/2 day sessions per week;
Full Day is $175 per week.
Multiple Family members and/or Savannah Sailing Member: $85 for 1/2 day
sessions and $160 for Full day. For group rates,
special training courses, and/or
scholarship availability
contact the office.
Saturday: Open Sessions taught in Harpoons and Club 420 sailboats: (1/2
day) for $45 per session and 5
sessions are $200. Savannah Sailing members are $40 per session
and 5 sessions are $175.

Instructors/Safety
All courses are supervised by US SAILING
Certified Instructors.
All participants are required to wear a US
Coast Guard approved life jacket (provided) when on or near the water, practice safe water
habits at all times and must know how to swim. Minimum age is
8.
