Grand Prix Event for Full Rigs 

MAY 31 - JUNE 1, 2008

NOTICE OF RACE
This regatta is organized by the Savannah Sailing Center, Savannah, GA. 

1. RULES:   This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.   Appendix  P “Immediate Penalties for Breaking Rules 42” will apply.  This will be a Category C Regatta. 

2. CLASSES:  Open, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7.   Open Class. This class is open to Full-Rig or Radial.  This class will have a separate start.  The Open class will be used to qualify for the SAYRA Full Rig Junior Championships.  Rigs will not be changed during the regatta.   Radial class is open to Radial Rigs only.  The Radial class will be used to qualify for the SAYRA Junior Radial Championships and the D12 Radial Champion.  The Laser 4.7 may sail a shorter course and may have a separate start depending on the number of entries.  Three or more boats registered and rigged the same will constitute a class.  

3. REGISTRATION:   Boats may register between 0900 –1000 Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Sail Harbor Marina, 606 Wilmington Island Road, Savannah GA.  

4. ENTRY FEES:  The entry fee for the D-12 is $40.00.   There is a $5.00 discount for current US Sailing members and Savannah Sailing Center members.  The entry fee includes one dinner ticket.  Additional dinner tickets may be purchased at $10.00 each. 

5. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:  Sailing Instructions will be available at registration. 

6. COURSES:   Courses will be windward-leeward/triangle or a combination thereof sailed in the Wilmington and/or Skidaway Rivers. 

7. SCORING:  Seven races are scheduled.  One race will constitute a regatta.   A boat’s final score will be the total of all her race scores, with her worst score excluded if six (6) or more races are completed.  This changes RRS A2. 

8. SCHEDULE:  Friday, May 30, 2008 Practice Race at Sail Harbor Marina.  Splash at  1330 with starts at 1400.
                           Friday, May 30, 2008 Pre-event dinner TBD at 1830 sailors and race committee welcome.
                           Saturday, May 31, 2008
                            0900-1000     Registration
                             1015             Competitor’s Meeting
                             1030             Mini-Clinic
                             1230             Warning signal for the first race; other races to follow             
                             1830              Dinner and Winner’s Circle at Charlie Usher’s home.
                                                   Directions available at registration.

                            Sunday, June 1, 2008
                                 0930              Warning signal for the first race; other races to follow. 
                                                       Awards Ceremony to follow.

                            No sequence will start after 1500 on Sunday 

9. PRIZES   Prizes will be awarded to the first through third place finishers in Laser Open, first through third place in Laser Radial, first place in Laser 4.7.  Prizes will also be awarded from the Open Class to the first place Junior; the first place Master, and the first place Female.  

10. HOUSING   Limited housing to be provided on a first come basis by the sailors.  You must make contact as soon as possible.
